Omeo District Health continues to deliver General Practice services to the community of Omeo and surrounding towns/areas via an innovative model of care.
We are extremely fortunate to have a team of dedicated and experienced General Practitioners at the Medical Centre. With the Centre becoming increasingly busy, it is a reflection of patient’s confidence in the services delivered at the Medical Centre. The roster has a core group of practitioners that attend at regular intervals with in-between visits strongly complimented with locum GPs that have a strong interest in Omeo and rural medicine. We are extremely grateful to these Doctors and their liaison with the Medical Centre.
The model provides medical services to Swift Creek and Ensay on a regular weekly or twice weekly basis and is highly regarded by these communities.
Feedback from the doctors is that they value their time in Omeo and enjoy the experience and challenges of providing medical support to remote rural patients. Without exception medical staff acknowledge the success of the model.
The practice has continued to be popular with Medical Students from Monash Gippsland School of Medicine, Melbourne University, and James Cook University in Queensland.
